Most Children living in Richmond at the turn of the century didn't go to school past the 8th grade, when they turned 13 or 14. At this age they would essentially become adults, and come in to the workforce. In children's Leisure time most would explore around Richmond and surrounding suburbs, play sport and hang out with friends. There wasn't enough room in the house which was typically a two or three room house so the children would play in the surrounding streets. The Upper Class children would sometimes play and do the things their parents did such as going to the theatre and playing tennis. Also the children with wealthy parents would usually finish secondary school and enter there tertiary education.
